FBI Agent Emily Byrne is shockingly returned to her family after being presumed dead at the hands of alleged serial killer, Conrad Harlow. Emily is forced to deal with the mystery of her captivity and with the fact that everyone has moved on without her. Digging into Emily’s cases, her ex-husband, Nick Durand, finds a link to Robert Semerov, a sex-trafficker with an axe to grind with Emily. But when the FBI tracks him down, suspicion suddenly shifts to Emily. Is Emily still the same person they knew her to be?

Emily’s alleged serial killer, Conrad Harlow, is released from prison, and Emily is no closer to solving the mystery of who abducted her and held her for six years. As Emily struggles to find some kind of normalcy, a witness comes forward, strengthening the case against her. Emily insists the witness is lying and must have been put up to it – perhaps even by someone in the FBI. Can Nick and Emily find out the truth before she is taken away from her family again?
