Tiffany Haddish and her childhood friends Sparkle, Selena and Shermona embark on a girls' trip to Africa, where romance and adventure await; the first stop is Cape Town, where Tiffany flirts with ending her dry spell and Shermona plays matchmaker.

The girls visit a healer known as a "sangoma" to receive messages from their ancestors, but Tiffany leaves the ceremony empty-handed; Sparkle's reading, however, reveals a deep secret that causes a rift with Shermona.

Sparkle and Shermona hash out their issues, while Tiffany endures backlash over a video she posted online; after realizing she needs to love herself before finding a worthy partner, Tiffany decides to marry herself, much to Shermona's disapproval.

The friends visit African aunties for marital advice, but things get tense when the conversation turns from partnership to submission; at Split Rock, Tiffany tries to commune with her ancestors, but Selena reckons with the violence of her past.

Tiffany marries herself in a lavish traditional ceremony, then takes her friends on a honeymoon trip to the white sand beaches of Zanzibar; things go awry when Shermona proposes a game of hard truths that results in hard feelings.

Sparkle plans a surprise birthday party for Shermona, despite being at odds; Selena opens up to Tiffany about a past trauma; to end their journey, the girls throw a bonfire to say goodbye to Africa, their fears and the women they once were.
