In this episode, Julian treats a much-loved moggie with a badly swollen eye where surgery might be the only option. Head Nurse Sarah is extremely worried about her own dog, Copper, who is off his food, losing weight and going downhill fast. When Julian gets an emergency call out to a ewe struggling to deliver twin lambs, it is a race against time to save the lives of both mother and her babies.

Vet Sarah sees Polly the poorly Chicken who is off her food and suffering in pain.

Former Herriot trainee, Peter Wright, treats a hand-reared lamb who is going for the chop (not that sort) because hes causing chaos in the family to which he's been adopted.

The Yorkshire Vet, Julian Norton, is called out to a local petting farm to help a bad-tempered goat with a suspected broken leg - but the goat is not keen on getting treatment! When Peter takes an emergency call from an anxious trainer, it could be the end of the line for a horse that has cut open its foot while grazing in a field.

Skeldale Student vet Molly turns to the Yorkshire vet for help as she brings in her cat Marlo who appears to have been shot in the head. Julian has to perform emergency surgery. Farmer Chris Colbeck is worried about his sheepdog Floss, who was run over by a tractor on the farm. Can Peter fix her wounded leg so that Floss can get back to her flock?
