Spies and Intelligence: From the OSS to the CIA

World War II espionage training film for OSS (Office of Strategic Services, the precursor of the CIA) operatives. At the opening, a Lieutenant introduces Colonel Henson Langdon Robinson, chief of OSS Schools and Training, who speaks briefly before the training film begins.

On the OSS Operational Group's assistance in helping to organize and coordinate partisan activities in Italy during World War II. Describes the success of the mission; shows the 'Cayuga Team'' at a briefing and parachuting, along with supplies, into the hilly Italian terrain.

Demonstrates the body search process, ways to avoid being searched and how to avoid detection should a search occur. Undercover agents Fred and Steve go on mission to Enemiarea. Agent Frank hides microfilm under false callus on agent Steve's foot and Steve wears belt with coded message. Enemiarea secret police arrest them and a counter agent and doctor perform a body search.

This film dramatizes U.S. methods of obtaining bombing target information; in this instance, information on a ball bearing works in Schweinfurt, Germany. Intelligence agents questioned a German refugee and, in London, a captured pilot was led to divulge information. Aerial photographs and spies also supplied information. The film depicts an invasion operation, and shows scenes of bombing missions.
