Light Beyond the Reed

Qin Nan (Vin Zhang) and Ye Si Bei (Mao Xiao Tong) met and fell in love during their school days. They eventually grew up and married, dreaming of living happily ever after. But over the years, social and family pressures have mounted, putting their relationship under fast-growing stress. Despite his love for Si Bei, Qin Nan starts to resent her seemingly passive attitude – and begins to consider divorce. All that falls by the wayside when, one night, Si Bei becomes the victim of a horrific sexual assault. Terrified of the consequences of taking the matter to the police, she decides to keep the matter a secret from Qin Nan. When he eventually learns the truth, the duo resolves to take the case to court. Will their love survive these turbulent days – and can they succeed in their quest for justice? This drama was based on the novel of the same name by Mo Shu Bai.
