Isle of Chimps

On the edge of Uganda’s Lake Victoria is Ngamba Island, a semi-wild sanctuary for a family of rescued chimpanzees, all of them victims of the exotic pet and bushmeat trades. Without their mothers to raise them, these orphaned youths are looked after by a dedicated team of caregivers who help them integrate into the community by teaching them how to eat, play, and speak like chimps.
