Barnaby investigates a woman who has set out to exact vengeance on the two men she blames for her fathers suicide. After killing the first one she is double crossed by the second one and her boyfriend in order to gain control of her assets.

Barnaby is conned into helping another private investigator find a missing girl. But he's not honest with Barnaby about all that is involved with her disappearance or that he's tried to extort money from the people that are looking for her.

New evidence makes Barnaby rethink testimony he gave in a kidnapping case; guests Marj Dusay, Bradford Dillman.
