It's been an up-and-down emotional roller coaster for Mitch and Cam in their quest to adopt another child. Their latest ride has them bringing Gloria in tow as a translator, leaving Jay and Manny to look after Lily, who has a big dance recital coming up. Meanwhile Claire and Phil have a proud parenting moment when they send Alex off to her first prom, but then that is quickly marred with Haley's shocking news of her future plans.

Jeff (Patrick Warburton) remembers that his anniversary with Audrey (Megyn Price) is approaching, and believes that Audrey has forgotten. He sets out to show Audrey how great it is that he remembered, and she did not – a first in their relationship. Jen (Bianca Kajlich) agrees to go bowling with Adam (Oliver Hudson) on their date night. Timmy (Adhir Kalyan) is forced to go on a date with Russell (David Spade) and a new date (guest star) and act as a translator as she speaks Italian.

On the season finale, Kate is overjoyed when Diane and Jackie offer to let her have the kids on her first Mother's Day, however, when Kate discovers their hidden agenda--she is determined to get revenge. Meanwhile, Pete slowly buckles under the pressures at work.
