A country singer's (Roberta Leighton) unscrupulous manager plans to murder his client and collect on her insurance to pay off a greedy loan shark.

Barnaby and J.R. look into the deaths of two brothers who were murdered just days apart. Their investigation leads them to believe that their deaths are somehow tied a local woman's return after being in a sanitarium for three years.

Betty goes undercover to help Barnaby, J.R. search for a missing young girl. They soon find out that what they've stumbled onto it is a white slavery racket.
