While still trapped in Callisto's (Hudson Leick) body, Xena (Lucy Lawless) is invited to a gathering of warlords who have been summoned to a competition to replace a fallen Ares (Kevin Smith).

Gabrielle, Xena, Joxer and Aphrodite (Renee O'Connor, Lucy Lawless, Ted Raimi, Alexandra Tydings) use storytelling to help a runaway princess (guest star Olivia Tennet) realize the importance of home.

Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor) and Argo are shrunken into miniature versions of themselves when they cross paths with Lachrymose (Jon Gadsby), the god of despair. Lachrymose refuses to return Argo to original size unless Gabrielle can make him laugh. Gabrielle recounts many humorous situations, but is unable to get a reaction out of Lachrymose. Meanwhile, over lunch with a howling baby in the background, Xena recalls some of the strange and dangerous things she’s encountered and wonders what her child will see in the future.
