A drug bust-turned-shootout tests the bravery of the doctors of Angels Memorial as they race to save a girl caught in the crossfire. Also, Willis (Rob Lowe) shifts his focus to field medicine, choosing to work primarily on an ambulance with his new partner, paramedic Rox (Moon Bloodgood). And Leanne (Marcia Gay Harden) begins her journey to adopt Ariel (Emily Alyn Lind). Moon Bloodgood joins the cast as Willis’ New Partner, Paramedic Rox.

Charlie enters an inappropriate relationship. Meanwhile, Nolan and Patrick fight over a woman.

Jesse is in denial when his brother arrives at Angels Memorial in bad shape after being pinned down in a warehouse collapse, and further tests reveal he has advanced congestive heart failure. Also, Willis opens up to Rox about his brother who was killed in Afghanistan.

A successful producer likes Juliette's new song and invites her to Los Angeles to record for him. Elsewhere, Rayna puts her emotions aside and adopts a take-charge attitude; and a lonely Scarlett opens up to Liam.

Juliette bravely faces her new reality and the CMA award nominations are announced, pitting Rayna against Luke.

Maddie seeks a connection with Deacon as Teddy's wedding day approaches. Meanwhile, Rayna and Luke bond as they discuss exes and children; Juliette enrages a prominent DJ, who retaliates by promoting Layla; and Will learns that Brent is dating a new man.
