Warsaw 44
In German-occupied Warsaw in the summer of 1944, young Stefan takes over caring for his mother and younger brother after losing his father, a Polish army officer who fought against the Nazis. Stefan works at the Wedel chocolate factory and takes over his father's responsibilities, enduring daily humiliation from the Germans. He promises his mother not to engage in resistance activities, but he and the generation of Warsaw youth who have grown up under cruel Nazi rule must fight back. Together, the resistance plans what will become known as the Warsaw Uprising of August 1, 1944.
