In the prelude to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki a brutal war was raging all across the Pacific. Enraged by the attack on Pearl Harbour, the USA was out for revenge. On land, air and sea the intensity of war was being felt on both sides. No war is easy for those who fight it, and each conflict brings its own challenges. This was a conflict where territory changed hands regularly, and political loyalties were often unclear.
