Sktbrd Go For It!

The documentary SKTBRD GO FOR IT! tells two intertwined stories that run like parallel rivers: the story of Brazilian skateboarding, from the 1980s to today, and of Rogério Mancha, the coach of the first Brazilian skateboarding Olympic team. It is a story full of twists and turns and a lot of overcoming. Battles for the right to exist, to belong, rise, fall, near death, resilience, and redirection. All the movements of a lifetime are in these two stories. Satellite characters tell how the cart on wheels impacted and defined their trajectories, what it taught them, and how it strengthened them. Values such as liberty, respect, and companionship pervade the story of all of them. Rogério Mancha was shy and dyslexic. He was bullied and found his place in the world in the SKT parks in SP and was considered the intergalactic champion of mini ramps. The sport was once forbidden and considered marginal for a long time. The skate changes everything it touches; this is a maxim among skaters. How? What is the role that a cart on wheels might have in a person’s life? What can it teach? How did it go from being marginal to moving the entire fan base of a country? Rogério Mancha is only alive because he has skate running through his veins. In all the countless battles he had to face, it was the sports philosophy that kept him on his feet and in fighting condition.
