Monkey's Magic Merry Go Round
James Jensen is the upbeat host of a lively children’s program filled with songs, puppets, and lessons about memory. But during an episode devoted to recalling the past, he discovers an unsettling truth: he cannot remember his own childhood. As the season continues, the brightly colored set warps, and his puppet companions shift from friendly teachers to accusatory figures. Cryptic props, letters, and repeated imagery point toward a buried trauma involving neglect and a house fire that reshaped his life. The boundary between performance and reality collapses as James realizes the show’s constructed world has shielded him from confronting painful memories. Only by dismantling the illusion and facing what he’s repressed can he reclaim his identity and move forward.
