Last Letter
After Yuri Kishibeno's (Takako Matsu) sister Misaki passes away, she returns to her hometown for the funeral. When Yuri finds a notice about a class reunion addressed to Misaki, she decides to attend to tell her sister’s classmates of her death. However, Yuri ends up pretending to be Misaki when a former classmate mistakes Yuri for her sister. The unintentional ruse only gets more complicated when Yuri runs into Kyoshiro Otosaka (Masaharu Fukuyama), her first love, who also believes that she's actually Misaki. Yuri and Kyoshiro begin exchanging letters, but Kyoshiro's letters are delivered to Yuri and Misaki's parents' home, where Ayumi (Suzu Hirose), Misaki's daughter, now lives. Ayumi, who's been struggling with her mother's death, begins looking forward to Kyoshiro's letters, hoping that one day she'll have the courage to open a final letter that her mother left her. This film was adapted from the novel of the same name by Shunji Iwai.
