A Prayer for the Damned

Thirteen years after the American Civil War, several mysterious characters converge upon a strange New Mexico Territory town on a quest for a lost Confederate fortune. Two are in love and one is full of hate. A bushwhacked bounty hunter, Cole, straggles into Sudden, New Mexico and falls from his horse into the dusty middle of the street. He was on the trail of the mythic Confederate gold, with one half of a treasure map, and was to meet up in Sudden with his card playing woman, Mattie. He met up with The Preacher first. A demented man of god, possessing the other half of the map, The Preacher wants the gold to create his new kingdom in the Southwest. His bullets do not stop Cole.Patched up by the town’s drunk doctor, he is warned by everyone – the Doc, Mattie, even Sudden’s honest sheriff – to “leave it alone”. But Cole is driven by the need to provide a better, more peaceful life for his true love and himself.As the two searchers crisscross the territory, racing each other to find the fortune, letting nothing or no one stand in their way, they come ever closer to a deadly final confrontation. Cole discovers the treasure first and is heading back to Mattie and the dreams they share together. In the tiny town of Sudden, Cole’s and The Preacher’s paths violently collide.
