With an unexpected suspect possibly involved in her death, Maddie's forced to reveal more about the depth of that relationship — leading to unexpected consequences.

Maddie searches for clues on how to reunite with her body. Meanwhile, Janet goes on the run, Claire and Nicole investigate a lead and a conflicted Simon struggles to protect his own grasp on reality.

As the ghosts continue searching for Mr. Martin inside Split River High, Maddie worries about her future. Janet is haunted by her past at her family’s farmhouse, while Nicole struggles to accept the supernatural and Simon and Xavier begin investigating Janet’s history.

Janet/Maddie returns home to a shocked and relieved Sandra. The ghosts discover the objects from their deaths unlock hidden spaces. A mandatory school event uncovers tension between the living kids who are more concerned about Janet's return.

The support group faces their pasts while Claire, Xavier and Nicole uncover new information. When Maddie’s body is put in jeopardy, both the ghosts and the living are put to the test.
