George Gershwin opened a musical door to the world as his innovative compositions embed influences from the greatest European classical traditions combined with strong jazz elements and improvisation, taking virtuosity to the extreme. Following in the footsteps of the great American composer, the spectacular soloist Paul Merkelo (Principal trumpet with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal) and the dazzling Montreal-based pianist and arranger Matt Herskowitz have imagined a novel concert program exploring Gershwin’s music and inspirations.
