A train derails, killing passenger Dong-shan Lin and leaving insurance investigator Wenqing's husband Yanjie in a coma. Before the train derailed, Lin was drowning in debt.

A mystery woman's visit adds to Wen-Qing's doubts about her husband. After Xue-Wen disappears, his brother Xue-Ching becomes the next prime suspect, but no evidence places Xue-Ching on the train. Also, Xue-Ching saves Wen-Qing from oncoming traffic.

Xue-Ching uses Xue-Wen's death as proof of innocence, and he blames the investigators for forgoing a trial. Chen-Lang withdraws from the case to appease the public, and Wen-Qing is forced to release the insurance money to Xue-Ching.

At a charity auction, reporter Lee wins a bid on a painting just to meet its imprisoned painter Shen, who was once a powerful and notorious gang hitman and main suspect in the breaking and entering case.

Shen stonewalls Lee after Lee tries everything to get the truth from Shen. As a child, Lee never thought that his friend Shen, who was the Yeh family's bodyguard, would one night commit a heinous crime.

On the way to the local prosecutor's office, Shen escapes along with other inmates. Lee is furious at this news and uses Shen's younger brother to take revenge.
