Josecho de Linares
As director, writer, voice actor, assistant director, art director, casting assistant, video assistant and electrician, Josecho de Linares showcased a fascination with all aspects of the filmmaking process. Earning especial celebration for his short "My Right Eye," de Linares singled himself out not only as a jack of all trades, but as a potential master filmmaker. Josecho de Linares was born, in Málaga, Spain. De Linares studied film at ESCAC, the School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia, an offshoot of the University of Barcelona. After graduation, de Linares entered the world of professional filmmaking by playing various roles behind the scenes. He worked in the art department on the drama "Hombre cero" (2008), an assistant director on the short "The Beauty of Mrs. Potato" (2009), and an electrician on the production of a BMW advertisement in 2010. Beginning his tenure as writer and director, de Linares contributed to the anthology project "Puzzled Love" (2010), writing and directing the segment "Noviembre." The movie's 12 distinct segments (each assigned to a month of the year and directed by a unique filmmaker) combined to tell the bouncy romantic story of new love between young man from Mallorca, Spain and a young woman from Chicago, Illinois. De Linares went on to play various jobs on a number of sets, acting as video assistant on the TV movie "14 d'abril. Macià contra Companys" (TV3 2011) and a casting assistant on the film "Animals" (2012). De Linares met with new esteem after taking on his first solo venture, the familial drama "My Right Eye" (2012). The short film toured a number of smaller film festivals, winning prizes at the likes of the Seattle International Film Festival, the Stony Brook Film Festival, and the Peace & Love Film Festival in Sweden. In addition to directing and writing, de Linares also tried his hand at voice acting, lending his vocals to "Arròs covat" (El 33 2009-2012), an animated series about a graphic designer coming into his own after a bad breakup.
