Western monk Old Sage travels from Europe to China in the 7th-century and becomes the keeper of 100 painted scrolls. In a cave on a remote mountainside above the Eastern Ocean, he tells the tale of the Monkey King to two children, one who is Chinese and the other who is from the West.
