Michael tries to figure out how to tunnel in a building that houses a guards' break room, Kellerman and Hale attempt to kill Veronica and LJ, and T-Bag tries to dodge responsibility for Bob's murder.

The thwarted escapees return to their cells undetected, but a CO becomes suspicious about a broken pipe. Veronica and Nick ask a judge to postpone Lincoln's execution, and Sara asks her father, Governor Tancredi, to review Lincoln's case.

Lincoln is rescued by a face from the past, an old inmate returns to Fox River, Michael recruits some help from the outside, and Tweener gets wind of the escape plan.

The escapees and Dr Tancredi are shocked when they learn the identity of Michael's visitor, who brings with her a very important piece of the escape plan.

Tensions mount after Lincoln warns Michael that someone in the group will have to remain behind, Michael makes progress in reaching the infirmary, and Abruzzi threatens to kill T-Bag if he doesn't drop out of the group.

The prison escape drama returns for a second season. Michael and the other escapees have to make a run for it after the plane leaves without them, as a new enemy begins to close in on the missing men.
