Great Northern Cookbook

Sean Wilson embarks on a culinary adventure to discover the heritage and phenomenal flavours of the north of England's favourite foods. Sean is in the beautiful coastal town of Whitby, where he joins trawlermen at work. He then heads to Morpeth to take on the challenge of trying to convert a group of Northumberland offal-haters with some stuffed lambs hearts.

In Broughton-in-Furness, Sean attempts to break the world record for the largest Cumberland sausage. In Morecambe, he goes salmon-fishing the traditional way. He tests his parmo with a twist on the residents of Middlesborough and prepares a typical 18th-century menu at a country house in the Lake District.

Sean cooks lunch for a carriageful of local dignitaries on the Scarborough Flyer, a classic locomotive from the 1920s, and serves up his black pudding at a Blackpool B&B.

In this episode Sean goes go head-to-head in a pork pie bake off with a champion pie-maker in Huddersfield before battling it out with two award-winning sticky toffee pudding makers in Penrith.
