Charley Boorman's Extreme Frontiers

Charley is ready to take on one of the country's most iconic landmarks, Table Mountain. With the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop, Charley opens the series by abseiling from the summit of this 3500ft mountain. Next stop is Historic Robben Island, home of the prison where Nelson Mandela called home for 18 years. The team head to the beach next, learning to surf from a former Big World Champion. Back on the bike, Charley heads along the coast and gets back in the water to come face to face with one of the worlds greatest predators as he cage dives with the Great White Shark. Passing through the stunning landscapes of the Garden Route, Charley shares his touching experience of staying overnight in the Masiphumelele Township. Episode one comes to a grinding halt with a broken trailer.

Charley and the team are stranded near the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve with a broken trailer. With the wheels turning again, Charley explores an orange farm guided by a helpful local farmer. Charley and the team then make their way up the coast to the Born Free Foundation, where they learn the stories of the rescued lions and leopards. Back on the road, Charley survives a close shave on his bike before carrying on to a local community near Palmerton, to learn how eRanger bikes are helping to distribute medicine to locals in need. Next, Charley and the team discover health treatments courtesy of nature at some sulphur springs near Port St. Johns. Episode two ends back in the water with a breath-taking experience with a large pod of dolphins that Charley will never forget.

Just south of Durban Charley bonds with the locals by getting out into the surf before one of his most challenging adventures the Sani Pass. Leading up through the mountains towards Lesotho, Charley tackles the treacherously steep and extremely icy path to the summit. Once they recover from their Sani Pass adventure, Charley and the team continue their journey learning about the historic battle at Rorkes Drift. The episode ends close to the clouds as the team embark on the challenging trek to the top of Tugela Falls, braving the icy cold winds as they camp on the summit.

This episode opens at the historical site of the battle of Spion Kop where sadly, fallen men still lie. To lift the tone, Charley takes to the skies next as he paramotors over the beautiful South African terrain. Charley and the team then head to St Lucia to explore, on horse, part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. After getting up close to the crocodiles and hippos in the area, Charley stops in to learn about a less harmful creature, the butterfly. Back on the bike, Charley and the team head to Barberton to close the episode delving deeper underground in one of South Africas working gold mines.

Charley and the team are underground blasting for gold in Barberton. The stunning Kruger National Park is next, as the team journeys north over several days, enjoying spectacular wildlife, sunsets and scenery as they try to reach the northern point of Crooks Corner. Back on the bikes, Charley and the team ride inland to explore Johannesburg, with the first stop a market with delicious local food. Charley calls in to a luxury hotel to learn how to cook a traditional South African meal, before learning about the history of Soweto, whilst on a bicycle. The episode closes with Charley behind the wheel of a 4x4, taking on some adventurous off-road trails.

Charley embarks on another epic journey, this time exploring America. He begins by exploring the lava fields of Hawaii Island and then taking to the waters off Waikiki Beach in an outrigger canoe.
