Jamal must decide whether or not to have Barry executed for leading the failed coup. Molly fights, against the clock, to secure Barry's freedom, while Ihab and Samira are driven by desperation.

While Jamal is looking for Chinese military support, Barry stands up to the Caliphate. Sammy discovers that the Caliphate has kidnapped Abdul, and Amira wants Rami's help.

Jamal fears that his country is slipping from his control and holds out hope for a military victory. Barry's rescue attempt has unforeseen consequences, and Amira and Rami discuss Jamal's unpredictable behaviour.

Barry comes to the realisation that his survival requires the palace's support, as Jamal grows doubtful of Rami's loyalty. Sammy makes plans to donate his money to the Army of the Caliphate's opponents.

Barry discovers that his hold over Abbudin is tenuous. Sammy embarks on a risky relationship, Ihab's desire for revenge is given an outlet and Fauzi returns to Abbudin and is thrust into a political role.
