A President, Europe and War
In the early hours of February 24, 2022, Vladimir Putin launched a full scale invasion of Ukraine, in what would soon become the most dramatic act of war on European soil in 80 years. The striking pictures of the Russian invasion immediately surfaced on social media and television news network screens across the world. Every administration in Europe was on high alert, none more so than Emmanuel Macron, the French President and leader of the council of the European Union. With unprecedented access, this documentary chronicles, from the inside, how the French president, and his staff of advisers and government officials, dealt with the war in Ukraine on a day-today basis. We follow the diplomatic game behind the scenes as Macron tries to prevent the war through sustained diplomatic dialogue and by persuading the 27 member states of the EU to engage in economic retaliation to Russia and provide military and financial support for Ukraine.
