A phone call from a Watcher in England makes the gang fear that Giles is actually The First, and Willow tries to discover why she turned into Warren after kissing Kennedy.

As Giles continues training the Potential Slayers, Buffy goes out with Principal Wood and learns that his mother was a Slayer who was killed by a vampire in New York City.

Giles returns from England in an attempt to stop Willow, but in the end it is her oldest friend who reaches through her pain and stops her from destroying the world.
