Nora Durst finds herself adrift during a Departure-related conference in New York. Agitated that her ID has been pinched, Nora scours the convention for her imposter, and ends up getting detoured by an amorous salesman, a best-selling author, and a rogue attendee.

Green and Cassady get mixed up with the Russian consulate after Peter Rostov dies of ricin poisoning. Their investigation leads them first to his work, where they learn he spent a great deal of time travelling back and forth between Russia, and secondly to his brother, Karl.
