Crane and Abbie are forced to make alliances with some dangerous enemies when a new threat appears in Sleepy Hollow.

Sophie and Abbie are faced with a monster that might blow their cover with Reynolds; Joe and Jenny find something precious; Crane realises the symbol from the catacombs might be more important than he thought.

The team realises that the talisman that Dreyfuss seeks might be hidden in an obvious place, so there's a race to find it before the evil forces are aligned; Jenny and Crane revisit important parts of their past as they return to Sleepy Hollow.

Another member of the army of evil going by the name of the Sandman tortures the people of Sleepy Hollow by infiltrating their dreams and turning them into nightmares. When he targets Abbie, she must seek out her institutionalised sister, Jenny, and face her past.

The investigation into a missing persons case leads Ichabod and Abbie to a colonial-era house that holds a long-dormant evil.
