Giuseppe Calandriello

Giuseppe Calandriello was born in Pietrasanta, Tuscany. He graduated in Cinema, Music and Theatre (Cinema and Electronic Image curriculum) from the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at the University of Pisa. His first short films, which he wrote and directed, date back to the early 2000s. He later became interested in asemic writing, creating asemic video art works defined as "Asemic Cinema" and collaborating with visual artists such as Lamberto Pignotti, Giovanni Fontana, Emilio Isgrò and Julien Blaine. Some of the asemic short films he has written and directed include "AA9MXE00TJOL" (2021), "The Violin and the Lobster" (2022), and "CaMKII" (2025). They were screened at Castello Sforzesco in Milan, MART in Trento and Rovereto and at the Italian Cultural Institute in Krakow, Poland. Calandriello is the author of the subject and screenplay for the feature film "Anja - Real Love Girl" (2020), and the short film "La reliquia", 2020, which premiered at the Fantafestival in Rome. His video art works are in the collection of the Archivio del '900 of the MART - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto.
