Proud of her education, Vagdevi wants an equally qualified daughter-in-law. Meanwhile, an uneducated Saraswati uses her wisdom to tackle every challenge in the village.

Troubled by her aunt Nagmani’s cruelty, Saraswati also has to take care of her little sister Chinni. Meanwhile, Vagdevi throws a party at home to celebrate her success.

Saraswati lives with the hope that her father will return from abroad. Ishwar Prasad apologises to Saraswati for his msitake. Vagdevi assigns an important project to her elder daughter-in-law, Vanaja.

Saraswati recalls the past, where her father had helped Ishwar Prasad open a school in the village. Hurt on being insulted by Shyamala, Ishwar Prasad’s daughter-in-law, Vagdevi makes a decision.

Ishwar Prasad ousts Uma and Jagannath. Meanwhile, Vagdevi comes to the city with Arun and opens a school. When Uma starts having labour pains, Jagannath brings her to the city and seeks Arun's help.

After Uma and Jagannath convince him, Arun supports Vagdevi’s decision. Angered by this, Ishwar Prasad throws Arun and Vagdevi out of the house. Uma helps Arun by giving her jewellery to him.
