Gangadharam and Vijayalakshmi are in a similar state, both in their fifties, having lost their partners. Their children are married, living separately. For Gangadharam life is miserable after the death of his wife. On the other hand Vijayalakshmi begins to learn music as she has more leisure time on her hands. Gangadharam wants to marry her and have her companionship.
