A poor widower named Fakirchand Kapoor makes a living for himself and his two daughters collecting antiques and recyclables. Deciding to relocate to the United States, he follows the American Dream and makes a fortune before returning to Bandra, Mumbai. There he meets an old friend who has also made his fortune, and learns that his son wishes to marry his youngest daughter.
