The Original Black Panthers: 761st Tank Battalion

This one-hour documentary, executive Produced by Morgan Freeman, will tell the story of the legendary 761st tank battalion of WWII. The 761st, known as the BLACK PANTHERS, was made up primarily of African American soldiers who were not permitted to serve alongside white troops. At a time when US military leaders had reservations about using African American troops in combat, the battalion was sent overseas after much less training than their white counterparts yet ultimately received the Presidential Unit Citation for its actions while many individual members received Medals of Honor, Silver Stars and Purple Hearts. This documentary will air as a companion to History's next presidential mega-doc "FDR."
