Rhodes and Zanetti race to save a member of Firehouse 51, April's brother struggles during his first day at the hospital, and a woman saved from a burning building leads to a bigger mystery.

Dr Rhodes begins his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship, but gets off on the wrong foot with his new boss, Dr Latham. Meanwhile, Dr Choi begins his life as chief resident, and Sarah is caught off-guard by Dr Charles.

The shooting of Dr Charles moves to the courtroom. Dr Halsted and Dr Manning work on a heart-wrenching case.

Dr Manning is injured while helping the victim of a drive-by shooting, while Dr Rhodes learns surprising information about an ex-girlfriend.

Dr Halstead must face the consequences of the unauthorised resuscitation. A misdiagnosis leaves Dr Manning to make some difficult decisions.

Dr Manning goes to extreme measures to help a fearful pregnant woman and Dr Choi and April try to strike a balance at work. Also, Dr Charles and Dr Reese continue to disagree about their patients.
