Gunmen

Four friends fight together during the 1935 civil war in China. They go separate way afterwards.Two years later, Ding becomes a member of the Shanghai Police Force and is assigned to clean up the drug trade. During an operation against the drug king, Ding's boss is killed and the killer gets away. Ding swears revenge.There is a conflict with his family, they fear for his safety. Tin is assigned to take over the squad, creating conflicts, all of Ding's colleagues resign.Ding is assigned to menial duties and meets his old friends from the war, Kong, Ching and Fan. The years have treated them badly。So, Ding invite them to join him to clean up the drugs trade. They refuse having seen enough killing in the war. Later, they witness Ding is badly injured when he arrests the drug baron, Hey. They then join the force.Tin does not like their methods in carrying out their duty and they are suspended. Hey is released.The four friends continue to investigate the drug trade. Conflicts within Ding's family escalate. Hey's assistant Tai is captured but a policeman is kidnapped. Ding is afraid for his family's safety. They refuse to move so he pretends to have an affair with an informer, his wife then leaves him. During the hostage exchange Tin suddenly appears and grabs Tai, he wants to use him as bait to catch Hey. Hey tries to kill Tin but Ding saves him. Tin realizes the worth of his men and sets them up in a special squad, Gunmen. They plan to intercept a big shipment of opium before it reaches the French concession, but Hey appears with Ding's wife and daughter as hostage. They break free but the opium has gone on its way. His family is reunited, Ding end the Gunmen leave to stop the shipment, and in the process earn the respect of the people of the city.
