Violetta is a young woman who flees her native Mexico to start a new life in New York City, but instead of living a dream she is awoken to a harsh reality. After crossing the border into the United States, Violetta meets young Texan Eric, with whom she travels to New York. Upon arriving in New York, Violetta does whatever it takes to earn money, and some of what she does pushes Eric away from her. She interacts with some unsavory people along the way, all while trying to survive in New York and not have to return to Mexico. The Spanish drama series is based on a novel by Xavier Velasco.
