Under the Microscope

The mathematical prodigy Su Gamuk, whilst surveying land, discovers discrepancies between the land deeds and the actual plot area. While gambling, he arouses suspicion from Nokbi Ryong and is reported to the magistrate's office.

Suga-mug reports to Hyeon-a that Geum-anbu has imposed taxes on In-hwa-hyeon, but Bang Ji-hyeon fails to handle the matter properly.

Hwang Eung-do seeks to verify the tax records of each county, but Bang Mu-jin, along with the magistrates of Namgye and Dongyang, attempts to block him.

Jeong In-cheong appears and declares that Suga-muk is harbouring a personal grudge over his father's affairs and has turned the Geum-an Bureau upside down.

Beomyeon orders Jeong In-cheong to prevent Gamuk and Bo-ok from petitioning for a retrial. After much difficulty, Gamuk and Bo-ok submit their petition, but it is immediately rejected.

Yoo Kyung, the special inspector of Bongheung Sun'an, who had decided to investigate the Bidan-se incident, opens the tax records of Namgye County and has Gamuk examine the tax ledgers.
