In 1922, Egypt's fight for independence and the global mania surrounding the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb put archaeology, nationalism and imperial politics at odds, in a race to control the ancient past.

As Egypt pushes for greater authority over its ancient heritage, foreign archaeologists rush to uncover the next Tutankhamun. But as the world goes to war, the race for Ancient Egypt is paused.
