Tales From Zambia

The Luangwa River winds through the savannahs of Zambia. A family of elephants journeys through the bush and a young calf struggling to master the art of using his unwieldy trunk.

Some of Earth's largest animals live side by side in the Luangwa Valley, a place where millions of years of evolution has allowed them to survive and thrive.

Liuwa Plains is a place of extremes. For half the year, it's a dry barren plain where only the toughest survive and for the other half, it's a paradise of waterholes.

The Luangwa River belongs to the hippos. The world's largest concentrations of hippos are found here. They spend their days submerged, keeping cool in the hot sun.

Along the bank of the Luangwa River is a troop of eighty or so baboons. This is the story of a family, and a young male baboon who faces difficult choices as he comes of age.
