Determined to preserve the team's reputation, Traci hosts a week of auditions before selecting a team of seven dancers to lead a new generation of G Girls.

As the community packs the stands for the start of the football season, the G Girls struggle to overcome their performance anxiety and falter in their debut half-time show.

As the bonds between Traci and her new team begin to deepen, Traci discovers that her would-be captain Kiara is failing one of her classes; Traci benches both girls with failing grades.

Troubled by the leadership void on the team, Traci looks away from Kiara to a younger dancer, Jaida; in contrast to her bold performance style, Jaida is shy and unconfident outside of the studio.

The girls prepare for the band evaluation performance; a regional competition judged by professionals, the event offers the first formal review of the team that tests their talent against past teams.

While the season ends for the football team, the band and G Girls learn that they are one of a select number of high school teams chosen to perform at the HBCU invitational in Orlando.
