Bake Off Crème de la Crème

Battling it out in the first heat are three young chefs from a five-star hotel, a team which invents desserts for a leading supermarket and a trio of chefs who work in secret restaurants hidden away in the City of London.

In the second heat, Tom Kerridge welcomes three more teams of pastry chefs hoping to be the Crème de la Crème. This week sees the British Armed Forces up against chefs from a famous London hotel and the only all-women team in the competition, all battling for a place in the semi-final.

Two of this week's captains run their own patisserie businesses, while the third is the head pastry chef at a world-renowned Scottish hotel. Precision is the top priority for the teams when they are asked to make row upon row of identical classic pastries. Then they must innovate as they are challenged to transform lemon meringue pie into the pinnacle of fine dining.

Tom Kerridge welcomes three more teams of pastry chefs for the fourth heat of this tense competition. One team is captained by a cookery school teacher who has recruited two of his former star pupils. The second team is made up of three chefs from a five star London hotel, and the third team are an all-French outfit from a high-end patisserie.

It's the fifth and final heat. Tom Kerridge welcomes the last three teams of pastry chefs to the competition. Chefs from a fine-dining restaurant in Liverpool are up against a team of chocolatiers from Leeds and a team which will be competing for Wales in the culinary Olympics.

The competition has reached the semi-final stage - these teams won their heats and now they are back to bake again, fighting for a place in the final. Tom Kerridge welcomes back Liam's team from the Armed Forces, the supermarket inventors led by James and Sajeela's Park Lane boys. As it's the semi-finals, the judges want even more miniatures - 144 perfect breakfast pastries.
