Uri Zohar

Uri Zohar was an Israeli film director, actor, comedian and rabbi. A major figure of the Israeli New Sensibility movement in Israeli cinema, he became one of the country's most prolific and prominent filmmakers in the 1960s and 1970s. He was named a recipient of the Israel Prize for Cinema in 1976, but he declined to accept the award. Zohar was born and raised in Tel Aviv. He moved to Jerusalem and studied philosophy at university.
