The team investigate after all passengers aboard a commuter train appear to have died a still death. Bizzarely, all cell phones, mp3 players, laptops, batteries and bodies have been drained of power. A suspect by the name of Alistair Peck immerges, a very powerful man in possession of tremendous energy with severe consequences.

Clark begins to understand why he might have been sent to Earth. After waking from a nightmare in which something horrible was about to happen to Smallville, Clark heads to the cave to seek answers from Jor-El. His father tells him he must reunite the three crystals immediately, or a disaster of epic proportions will befall the planet - and even Clark will be unable to stop it.

Lex is using a boy named Tobias, who was once blinded by the meteor shower and also has the ability to identify other meteor freaks. Lex wants Tobias to help him locate other people with special powers so that he can perform experiments on them. Lana learns of Tobias and is fearful that he will name Clark as a freak, so she offers him a cornea transplant to keep him quiet. However, Tobias has some surprising news.
