When the Heffernans receive a tax refund cheque, Doug decides to invest the money in an ice cream truck, but quickly realises that he isn't the only ice cream seller in town.

At the amusement park, Arthur and Deacon have a scam going with a wheelchair, Danny and Spence hunt for girls, and Doug lies to Carrie so he can go on the rollercoaster, but his lies come back to haunt him.

When Carrie agrees to Arthur's choices for what to eat for dinner and which movie to rent, Doug gets upset that he doesn't get his way. Meanwhile, Spence camps out for days outside a cinema.

When Arthur sees a drawing of him done by Deacon's son, he becomes convinced that he needs braces. Spence is hired as the Palmers' servant.

Arthur accidentally hears Doug call him a 'Demented Old Circus Monkey'. So Doug tries to make it up to him by taking him to a Mets game. Trouble ensues.

While Vanessa and the Gable family gather around the Christmas tree, Vanessa and Kevin reminisce about their first patrol together.
