It's a busy Fourth of July weekend for the staff at County General, with Carter overseeing an understaffed and overstretched ward. Corday is persuaded to perform an organ transplant on a patient infected with HIV, and Pratt insists on returning to work, despite having spent little time recuperating from his surgery. Elsewhere, Neela continues her search for work outside the medical profession, but struggles to find a new calling.
