Drama series based on the lives and friendship of Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle. As prominent suffragette Lydia Belworth greets her supporters, a 12-year-old boy approaches with a bouquet of flowers, then draws a pistol and shoots her. When police arrest him, the boy claims that this was revenge for murder - his own. Houdini dismisses the boy as a nameless street urchin, but as he opens up about his past life, Doyle feels the boy may indeed have been reincarnated. If the team want to discover the truth, they must solve the mysterious decades-old killing.

A businessman is thrown from a window on the seventh floor by a shadowy phantom with demonic red eyes, capable of leaps and bounds that defy gravity. From the description of the eyewitness, the phantom is eerily similar to Spring-Heel'd Jack, a mysterious entity that has plagued the streets of London over the past hundred years. As more attacks occur, Houdini and Doyle cannot agree on whether it is the work of a supernatural being or someone exploiting an urban legend in order to fuel mass hysteria in a fearful public. Complicating the investigation is a tabloid reporter who sensationalises the story in order to sell more papers, creating more panic.
