War in the Pacific - Okinawa

The Battle of Okinawa (code name: OPERATION ICEBERG) began on April 1th, 1945 and did not end until June 30th, 1945. The island was the last line of defense before the Japanese motherland. The battles were fought with incredible fierceness and determination. Around two thirds of the Japanese soldiers died or committed suicide.
