Patty and Drake buy the San Francisco home of their dreams but need to rent out a flat to meet the repayments. They let to smart yuppie Carter Hayes who seems every young couple's ideal tenant, but he rapidly turns into the tenant from hell, hammering, sawing, sharing with a weird roomie, breeding and releasing roaches and yet staying one legal step ahead all the time.
